This Privacy Policy does not govern the information practices of third parties, including other companies that may advertise on this Podcast. In addition, we do not operate or control links to any third-party websites, services, or applications. Please note that once you click on such a link, you will have left our Podcast and should be aware that we do not have any control over third party websites. Use of third-party websites, and information collected by such third parties, is governed by their privacy policies. We encourage you to exercise caution and review their privacy policies before using their websites.
Please also review our Terms and Conditions, which governs your use of our Podcast.
Protecting children’s privacy
We are a general audience site. Our Podcast is directed to people who are at least 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the applicable jurisdiction). If we are notified that we have collected information from an underage child, we will take all reasonable, available measures we can to delete that information.
What Information We Collect
We may obtain personal information about you through the Podcast, information you voluntarily submit to us, social media networks and other publicly available sources, and from affiliates and/or business partners. The types of information we may obtain include but are not limited to the following:
Contact information, username or password information you may provide to us when you contact us, submit requests to us or register for any service provided through the Podcast; information from third parties; and, automatically collected behavioral or system data.
We collect information which you provide to us about you as an individual which enables us to identify and contact you; for example, your name, address, telephone number, date of birth, or any other information you provide to us when you subscribe to a newsletter or service from us, participate in an online survey by us, post a comment to our Podcast, enter a contest on our Podcast, request information from us, email us, or use a service or tool on our Podcast. In order to continuously improve our service to you and tailor our future communications to you, we may ask you to provide us with information regarding your demographics, comments, feedback, personal interests, and contact preferences. If you do not want us to obtain any personally identifiable information about you, do not submit it. You can visit and browse our Podcast without revealing such information, but you may not be able to access certain content, features or services if you choose not to submit such information.
We may automatically obtain certain information through our Podcast by automated means, such as cookies (including HTTP, HTML5 and Flash cookies), web beacons, web server logs, JavaScript and similar technologies, including technologies designed to obtain information regarding your use of our Services. The information we obtain in this manner may include IP address, mobile device advertising ID, browser characteristics, device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, information on actions taken on our Podcast, and dates and times you access or use the Podcast.
A “cookie” is a file that websites send to a visitor’s computer or other Internet-connected device to uniquely identify the visitor’s browser or to store information or settings in the browser. A “web beacon” also known as an Internet tag, pixel tag or clear GIF, links web pages to web servers and their cookies and may be used to transmit information collected through cookies back to a web server. Through these automated collection methods, we obtain “clickstream data,” which is a log of the links and other content on which a visitor clicks while browsing a website. As the visitor clicks through the website, a record of the action may be collected and stored.
We may link certain data elements obtained through automated means, such as your browser or device information, with other information we have obtained about you to let us know, for example, whether you have opened an email we sent to you, what search queries you may have run and what advertisements you may have seen on our Podcast or on third-party websites and apps. Your browser may tell you how to be notified when you receive certain types of cookies or how to restrict or disable certain types of cookies. You also may be able to delete your cookies or adjust your cookie settings. Please note, however, that without cookies you may not be able to use all of the features of our Podcast. Your device settings also may allow you to prohibit mobile app platforms (such as Apple and Google) from sharing certain information obtained by automated means with us through our apps or other app developers.
In addition, if you register with us through or connect your account with us to a third-party social media network (such as Facebook, Google, or Twitter), we may obtain certain information about you from the relevant social media network, such as your user ID and/or user name associated with that social media network, the information contained in your public profile on the social media network and friends lists. The specific information we obtain depends on your privacy settings on the applicable social media network and their data and privacy policies.
The providers of third-party apps, tools, widgets and plug-ins on our Podcast, such as social media sharing tools, also may use automated means to collect information regarding your interactions with these features. This information is collected directly by the providers of those features and is subject to the privacy policies or notices of those providers. We are not responsible for those providers’ information practices.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect from you through cookies and the information you provide us in order to communicate with you, respond to your requests, provide services, understand how you use our Podcast, to improve our Podcast, correspond with you or notify you of updates to our Podcast, as well as to aggregate your information with other users’ information to generate anonymous reports for our use.
In doing so, we may use cookies to personalize content and advertisements, store personal preferences, record session information, provide social media features, analyze traffic and trends, administer the site, track user’s movement, or gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. We may use Google Analytics and Advertising cookies or other analytics in order to perform statistical, demographic, interest and marketing analyses for development, to generally inform advertisers about the nature of our customers and to improve customer relationships. These cookies may be used to deliver more relevant advertising, but this information is not personally identifiable and is only used in aggregate.
Personal information you provide may also be used for our email and marketing purposes; by providing us with your email address, you expressly consent to our collection and use of your email for communication, promotional and marketing purposes, including, within our discretion, the distribution or sale of your email address or contact information to third parties. Information you provide may be used by us to contact you for our marketing purposes and may also be shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
Affiliates and other third party service providers and advertisers may also use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to manage and measure the performance of advertisements displayed on or delivered by or through our Podcast and to provide more relevant advertising. See “Collection of Information by Third-Parties, Ad Servers, and Sponsors” below for more information.
How We Protect and Retain Personal Information
We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information we have about you against accidental, unlawful or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure or use. We make reasonable efforts to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk of the processing, taking into account the costs of implementation and nature of the processing of such personal information.
We retain personal information for the period needed to fulfill the purposes for which the personal information was collected and as otherwise required or permitted by applicable law, such as in relation to our record retention obligations.
Disclosures to Third Parties
Aggregated information may be shared with service providers who perform services on our behalf. We share your information with third party service providers to help us analyze web traffic and operate our Podcast. We will share your information with these third party service providers as reasonably necessary for them to provide these services.
Your information may also be shared with our advertisers, affiliates and third party clients or business partners, including social media networks, for marketing purposes, such as targeted advertising. By providing us with your email address or other information which identifies you specifically, you expressly consent to our collection and use of such information you provide for communication, promotional and marketing purposes, including, within our discretion, the distribution or sale of your email address or contact information to third parties. We may share your personal information with our subsidiaries and affiliates, any of whom may use your personal information consistent with this Privacy Policy or for the subsidiary’s or affiliate’s own purposes, including marketing purposes.
In addition, when the information collected from or about you does not identify you as a specific person, we may share it with third parties.
We may further disclose information about you (1) if we are required to do so by law or legal process, (2) to law enforcement authorities or other government officials, and (3) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss, or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual fraudulent or illegal activity. We also reserve the right to transfer personal information we have about you in the event of a proposed or completed sale or transfer of all or a portion of our business or assets (including in the event of a reorganization, dissolution or liquidation).
International Transfers of Information
The Podcast may be hosted in and managed from a country outside the country in which you initially provided the information, including the United States. We may transfer the personal information we collect about you to the United States and/or another country, which may not be deemed to have the same data protection laws as the country in which you initially provided the information. When your personal information is in such countries, it may be accessed by the courts, law enforcement and national security authorities in accordance with applicable law. If you are a user located outside the United States or the country to which your information may be transferred, you understand and consent to having any personal information processed in the United States and/or such country. Your consent includes the use of cookies and other tracking technologies as described above.
Collection of Information by Third Parties, Sponsors and Ad Servers
Advertisers and websites that have links on our Podcast may collect information directly from you if you click an advertisement or link to visit another website. This Privacy Policy applies only to information you provide to us and not to any information you may provide to a third party. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites, apps or services. Please consult the privacy policy of any other website you visit to know what information they may collect and how they may use it.
We sometimes partner with third parties that operate websites and services you can use. As examples, this could include cobranded websites, online stores, contests, or donation sites. When you provide personal information to such sites, such sites may collect information automatically and may obtain information specifically identifying you that you voluntarily submit to participate in such website activity. We have no control over these third parties’ use of this information.
We may provide readers the convenience of signing onto our Podcast using third-party social login credentials for accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In or Google. This would allow you to link your existing social profile to our Podcast, for example, to post content directly on our Podcast or share content to social networks from our Podcast. Our Podcast may also access certain information from your third-party social profile such as your name, profile picture, gender, and email address.
Comments
To the extent permitted, if you choose to post comments to a blog or article, any information you submit may become public. It may become accessible through search engines or, if you sign in using credentials from a third-party social networking service, it may become accessible to users on that service. Unless otherwise noted, we do not limit the distribution of information that you share using these features. We are not responsible for any personal information you choose to make public via these forums, and you agree that such sharing will be deemed to have been permitted by you, not us. If you prefer not to have your information published, do not submit it.
Ad Choices
Some of the advertisements you see on our Podcast are delivered by third parties who may also collect information through cookies and web beacons about your online activities on our Podcast or across the Internet, in an effort to understand your interests and deliver advertisements that are relevant to you. Often our ads are based on the content of pages you are viewing, but third parties may also provide ads tailored to your interests. We shall have no liability for advertisements delivered on displayed via our Podcast, their content, or the products or services represented by such advertisements.
Your California Privacy Rights
Our Podcast is not designed to, and does not, respond to “do not track” (“DNT”) signals from browsers. Subject to certain limitations, California residents may ask us to provide them with (1) a list of certain categories of personal information that we have disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes during the immediately preceding calendar year, and (2) the identity of those third parties.
